Default Half of emails get sent

I have an email campaign set up and going ... sort of.

When I clicked the "Send Emails" button all 150 emails got queued up. Then at the scheduled time, 80 emails were sent. Now, over 24 hours later, the remaining 70 emails are still waiting to be sent.

When I go to the "Mass Email Manager" it shows the In Process column as "Checked" and the send attempts as 1. The Send On, is the original time that it should have been sent.

    I'm running 4.0.1

The good news is that the 80 emails that went out orignally are getting tracked, and the hits are coming in.

    Any ideas?

What version of Sugar are you using? I haven't done my April Campaign with 4.2 yet, but I am looking forward to tracking mulitple urls.

I'm using Version 4.0.1e. In out testing it worked with 10 emails but when I did about 180 it only sent like 5. Now only about half are going out and usually the same domains aren't going out...not sure yet why.

    Hi there,
I have a similar problem but my emails are all kept in queue as "checked" and the send attemps as 1.
Have you found how to solve this problem ? It would be very, very useful !!
    Thank in advance

I'm running 4.5.1h and had a similar problem for several campaigns.

It seems to be down to fine-tuning the number of emails that go out per batch against the settings in the Scheduler. I think that if the scheduler starts to send another batch before the last emails were sent, it gets confused and that's when the queue starts to get blocked.

In Admin > Email Settings try reducing the "number of emails per batch". I've now got mine set to 15, with the Scheduler set to send out every 1 minute.

Those are the settings I've used for the last two campaigns (2,800 and 1,200 emails) which worked much more successfully than previous campaigns which had been set to send anything from 25 to 500 at a time but had resulted in around 300+ left in the queue. I eventually mangaged to get most of these out by mass updating around 10 at a time to In Process "No", changing the number sent per batch to 10 and sending them manually by clicking the "Send Queued Campaign Emails" button in the Outbound Email Queue Management page.

The last campaign (sending 15 every minute) took just under an hour and a half to send the 1,200 emails. Only 8 were left in the queue this time which were easy to send manually using the method above.

One more thing ... make sure that you are sending using SMTP, not Sendmail, and that the inbound email settings for bounce handling are set to use IMAP, not POP, assuming your ISP/server supports IMAP (don't forget to leave the messages on the server!).

Incidentally, if the messages don't go out first time (and you don't send them manually), they stay in the queue for 24 hours, at which point Sugar will try to send them again. It will continue trying, once every 24 hours, for 5 attempts and then gives up and transfers them to "bounced".

Hope this helps but I've never used versions 4.01 or 4.2 so I don't know if the set up is the same.

    Thanks Maggie,

I had the same problem, been trying for a week now to send out the remaining 500 emails of a 1000 emails campaign.
The solution you provided works, although I must say it's a bit of a tedious process.
I wonder why Sugar isn't able to provide an easy and user-friendly solution to this, especially when emails need to be sent in bulk for newsletters!
I was glad to hear I wasn't the only one experiencing this issue.
    Cheers!

May not be the solution but have you tried increasing the time allowed for the PHP scripts? If you have a slow link or a busy SMTP server etc your script could be exceeding the permitted script run time? I can send hundreds at a time with no problem now although I keep it low to ensure I dont get a SPAM identification!

I think I had similar problems early on which disappeared after I increased this value!

    Chris...
