Email URL's not coming through correctly

I found this post in the Email Campaign guide sticky... I followed it to a T, or so I think I did...

3. The easy way to embed a tracker URL is to place your cursor before the word that you want a tracker link to be at, select the right tracker URL name from the dropdown, then press the “Insert URL Reference” button.
a. You’ll see new copy added that says “Default Link Text.”
b. Highlight the copy that says Default Link Text and write in the text you want to display.
This way is really easy but does not let you change the style of the link. It may look out of place depending on the rest of your email.

When I send out my emails, I get the links, however when I hover over the links I get an outbind://66-00000006c... link that errors out. What is wrong here? I am on 4.20d.

Also, I don't create any trackers, I get the "To remove yourself from this email list click here" link at the bottom of my email.

Well, lets see here, I tried this morning, following the exact same steps, except I didn't use a hyphenated word (opt-out) for the tracker url name, and it worked fine. Would the hyphen cause the problem?

It seems so. A customer reported the same problem. We've made some tests and noticed that if a tracker url keyword has a hyphen it won't be replaced.

Is this documented somewhere or is it a bug?

Looks like bug 6638 is covering this issue, but its status is closed... Bug 7444 mentions a similar problem with periods.

If this bug is closed then it shouldn't be.
I just did my first email campaign template and none of the trackers were working. The tracker label had a hyphen in it.

I suspected that it might be the problem so I removed it and VOILA it worked fine.

So the hyphens trip up tracking. Take them out and you should be fine.

Sugar Team, why no like hyphens?
I like hyphens, they make my tags and keys more readable later on.
Please don't discriminate against hyphens.
I think you should strive to be an equal opportunity ASCII developer.

Or do you subscribe to the Orwellian philosophy of:
"All ASCII characters are equal, but some are more equal than others."
