Campaign to Opportunity Tracking

In my weekly foray into Netsuite and Salesforce.com demos I noticed that Salesforce.com allows you to connect an opportunity to a campaign via a field called Campaign Source: this field allows you to lookup and choose a campaign.
Method 1: I can create a custom field with a custom dropdown list depicting campaigns
Method 2: I create a loookup connected to campaings and therefore can still create campaigns via the Sugar interface.

Any other thoughts on solving this issue? Any suggestions of creating the latter solution?

Did anyone work out a way to do this? It would put a lot more value on campaigns as it would enable ROI analysis on campaigns.
