I'm not exactly sure why you wouldn't see bounced emails in your campaign status view, but it may have something to do with the way you have set up your monitored campaign email inbox. Heres an extract from our sugarCRM guide "MIE SugarCRM User Guide" which might help.
"An email inbox set up for marketing campaigns is used as the ‘sent from’ address in emails sent by SugarCRM campaigns, and as the recipient of any bounced emails, and emails responses from Targets.
Creating an email inbox for marketing campaigns is similar to creating an email inbox for Customer service, as described in the previous section. The only difference is that Possible Actions field must be set to ‘Bounce Handling’ before the email inbox will be available for selection in the campaigns module.
Set the From Name to the Name you would usually send a campaign from. This can be overridden on an email by email basis.
Don’t set an Auto Reply template for an email marketing campaign inbox. This can create an endless loop scenario where bounce notification emails, trigger an auto reply, which nt-turn triggers another bounce notification, which triggers an auto reply … and so on, clogging up your system with thousands of emails."
