Default new contact via web site?

Can we have new contacts and leads entered into the system via website form?

The product looks great and if we can do the web based forms we're in

SugarCRM does not yet have a lead capture module, but it is certainly high on our list of things to build next. We are currently targeting an integrated lead capture form for our November v2.0 release.

If you run Mambo for your web portal (http://www.mamboserver.com/), you will be interested to know that we are also contemplating providing this feature as a Mambo component that ties into SugarCRM Open Source. We would likely deliver the Mambo component in addition to a pure SugarCRM implementation.

Is this part of the new version now?

I did not see how to import from the website in the 2.5 user guide.

Any tips on how to do this? I could not find it searching the forums.

I see some inklings of looking at the soap modules in the source directory. Try searching on that.

A Mambo component would be most welcome!

I think Mambo would be a great idea, but currently I have a legacy code base to maintain and am not able to switch to Mambo. Would a mysql insert into the contacts table sufficient for this?...or is there more complexity that I'm not seeing? I'm not a mysql guru, by any stretch, but it seems feasible that a php page could do this. I also an really needing this functionality and was considering this approach. Any feedback/comments?

Big thanks...that was exactly where I was getting confused ( how to make the ID ).
Why can't the SugarCRM team integrate that into their system? I can put together a page to do that in a bout 5 minutes.
    thanks again!

IN reading this thread, I am not sure if I understood what you're asking to do, but if you were asking to have a person go to your website, enter their information, and have it create a lead with SugarCRM, then Sugar already does that.

You use the ExampleLeadCapture.php file under the examples directory in sugar, adjust it to add which user you want these leads assigned to, and it works.

I have been using that, and another small file to input all my contacts on my website into SugarCRM and SendStudio at the same time.

Again, I might have misunderstood what you're looking to do, if I got it right, that it's in there. Been in there for a while now..
