    Default Custom Mapping File

As part of the import process, Sugar allowed me to save a custom mapping file. This would be useful if I could subsequently use that mapping file for other imports, but I didn't see a means to do that. Is there a process for this that I missed? It would sure be nice if all of these features were documented somewhere.

We are also having this problem with 3.5.1a. I am trying to import many fields that take a lot of time to select. It will not allow the use of the saved custom map.

    Sugar Version: 3.5.1a
    Sugar Edition: SugarSuite
    Operating System: Windows XP
    PHP Version: 4.4.1
    Database: MySQL 4.1.14
    Web Server: Apache 1.3.33

This issue seems to persist all the way into 4.51e, some 2+ years later, at least in the Open Source version. This seems hard to believe.

There appears to be no place on the Import Targets field mapping screen to apply a saved field mapping.

    Hi, all.

There is a way to save the custom mapping file.

At the step 3, where you map the fields, at the bottom of page there is a check box and text field.
Check the checkbox and type some string WITHOUT BLANK SPACES. With blank spaces the custom mapping does not shown into first step of importation.

    Cheers.

    Andre,

I gave it a try, but that did not work. When you import data does it ever get change from "Import Started" to "Import Complete". Mine does not so I may be having some other performance issues that are slowing down my import and it is not actually finishing before I navigate away from the page and therefore not actually saving the custom mapping field.

I will work more on this today and post my results.

    Thanks for the assistance!

    Ok, It Worked!

I did not try the two words to see if that is still a bug, I used one to be safe.

Here is what I suggest for anyone else having problems:

    Custom Mapping for Import
    1. Setup a comma separated value (.csv) file that has the header and only one or two contacts in it. Try to pick a contact that has the most fields filled in so you can test everything.
    2. Do your import like normal and try saving your custom mapping wit ha single word name (no spaces)
    3. Make sure is says "Success" and shows you a list of contacts imported BEFORE you navigate away from the page. I was never sure if it should just keep working in the background and let you do something else but this is not the case.
    4. Make sure you select finished instead of just switching pages
    5. Try a new import, and see if your saved custom mapping appeared, Mine Did!

Much thanks goes to Andre for mentioning the naming bug.
