Creating new fields... maybe something went wrong

Hi,
I just created one new field for the contact edit and view panel...
I can see it either in edit/new view and details view...

The problem is that if fill my new field with some value Sugar doesn't store it. In fact when I look at the updated contact nothing is shown in my new field...

I search in the db the "custom_fields" table: it is there and it have one line. But nothing is stored there but the bean_id (a long hash...) and the set_num (it is 0).

Can you help me? what's wrong?

try making sure the files in the custom directory are read/writeable just as an experiment.
