contacts for non-contact related people????

Can I use SUGAR to hold information of contacts that are not related to a sales lead, contact, etc...??? I have people that I have met via my netowkring who are not sales leads. But, they are a very vital person for ideas and other contacts. Basically, can I use the contacts list for non-sales related contacts?
