Default how to enhance performance of sugarcrm?

    hello,

i would like to know what you are doing to increase the performance of your sugarcrm installation(s). since i have been in a very interesting presentation at sugarcon09 about sugarcrm performance tuning i think that "dramatic performance improvements" should be possible.

i did some research and created a tutorial describing what i did to improve the sugarcrm performance in my setup. i used the php extensions apc and memcache, installed memcached, loaded and configured some additional apache modules, had a look at the mysql query cache and updated the sugarcrm configuration.

after some simple steps i could run the jmeter testcase i created 3.4 times faster than before.

please tell me what you are doing to improve the performance. and please read and comment my tutorial. thank you very much.

    with regards - ingo

Thank you ingo, nice work again! (openqc is very nice too)

How about putting this on the Wiki so that it can be maintained in the future?

About the contents: It may be interesting to compare the different caching systems that Sugar supports, and to do tests to quantify the effects of the performance settings you suggest. Some of them have large implications, and I think a few measures can be very helpful in choosing the right configuration.

that is right. however i am also very much interested in tuning the sugarcrm LAMP environment.. the community still needs more input on how to increase throughput.

i would really appreciate it, if developers could publish their jmeter scripts. i am very new to jmeter and would like to have a "complete" script. right now my script is very host specific and only does the following:
    1. login
    2. open the listviews of accounts, contacts, opportunities, etc (~ 6 modules?)
the script then does the steps in parallel using n threads and repeats the sequence of 1.+2. m times. what are your scripts doing instead? - please upload your scripts!

    with regards - ingo

    Ingo,

Just recently I visited FOSDEM and this Drupal Optimization presentation may have some value for you: http://wimleers.com/talk/fosdem-2009. It's about Drupal but talks about client-side benchmarking tools and some optimization ideas.

thank you very much for your link. it is a very interesting presentation. however, i would like to improve the performance of the backend. i just installed yslow and looked at the tipps it gives you when it analyses a page.

has anyone experiences with a CDN? is it possible to integrate the sugarcrm environment into an cdn?

    with regards - ingo

[I'm pasting this response here just in case someone comes across this...]

I have used Sugar JMeter kit. However it has some issues with large loads. It fails to detect the page errors
    under large load.

I have created a SugarCRM Benchmark that can scale up to thousands of users. This benchmark comes with both database initializer and web site load testing using the popular Faban Framework (used by spec.org).

You can download the Faban Framework here: http://faban.sunsource.net/

    SugarCRM Benchmark Source Code: http://kenai.com/projects/erpbench/s...show/crm/trunk

SugarLoader and sugarbench can be loaded directly into netbeans as projects. Performance data is collected here: http://blogs.sun.com/vanga/
