Hi everyone,
Am I missing something or it's not possible to archive emails?
In version 4 there is an option to archive emails but in this version there is none?? Am I missing something or it's not possible anymore to archive emails?
I do see My Archives but I can't send emails to there ??
Thanks
Paulo

bugsoftware,
Once you go into the email UI, the shortcut menu is automatically collapsed. In that menu there is one option "Create Archived Email". I believe thats what you are looking for.

Hi,
No it's not :) I see that option but that's not what I want :) What I want is to send email from "My Emails" section to "My Archives" section or simple archive the email as it was possible in version 4

The purpose of archived emails has changed in version 5. Archived emails only exists in 5 as more or less a backwards compatibility feature and so that emails sent to an account not set up in sugar can be entered in the system.
Emails in your myemails folder are "imported" and stored in the database the same as an "archived" email.

But what if you don't want your inbox to hold all emails? I created an archive folder so that I can get rid of non-current emails, however whenever I try to move an inbox email to the archive folder and then delete the email from my inbox it is then deleted from the server.
Any thoughts on a better process?

I'm looking for this same functionality. Basically I want emails handled, related to an object and then stored out of sight. Even setting an email's status to Archived doesn't keep it from being viewed by the email client in sugar.
Any thoughts?

We tried a lot (like making extra folders and placing messages there), but that doesn't work either (refer: http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=33729)

Hi,
We used to work with the archive-mail function, but from version 5.0 the workflow has changed a little.
You receive new mail in the top-box. This can be your personal mail, but also mailboxes that are assigned as groupmail. This mail is not in Sugar yet (like when you work with the plugin for Outlook/Firebird), but is hold the 'Sugar-mailclient'. I guess this mail is not in the database yet, but just in a webmail-client. You can read the mail, reply to it or quick-create anything from that mail. When finished you archive it with "import in Sugar".
I had to get used to this, but untill now I really like working this way. The only thing missing is the connection between an email and a lead etc. And I have not deceided in which browser Sugar 5.0 works best on OSX 10.4. All browsers seem to have problems with something, but i expect that this will get better with next updates.
Hope this helps.
Corwin
