To install Sugar 5.5.1 successfully, ensure that the Multibyte String (mbstring) module is installed in your PHP libraries.
•
In order to better support multi-byte character storage with Microsoft SQL Server, you can configure Sugar to use FreeTDS driver. See “Installation Prerequisites and Guidelines” in Sugar Community Edition Application Guide. The supporting files are in a zip file, sugarcrm-MB-mssql.zip at http://www.sugarforge.org/frs/?group_id=6.
You can upgrade from Sugar versions 5.2.0x and 5.5.0x to 5.5.1 RC3. All Sugar 5.2 plug-ins and extensions are compatible with Sugar 5.5.1 RC3.
•
Before upgrading to 5.5.1 RC3, navigate to the php.ini file on your system and change the post_max_size and upload_max_filesize settings to more than 20MB. Restart Apache and then begin the upgrade process.
•
The process of upgrading can take up to an hour. If you are using the IIS Web server, you need to ensure that the CGI application does not time out. To do this, on IIS, set the CGI script timeout to more than the default value of 300 seconds.
•
If op-code caching is enabled in the PHP configuration file, you will need to disable it before upgrading your Sugar installation. You can enable it after the upgrade process is complete.

Bug 30535
The fields for First Name and Last Name do not display in the Search panel if you set field permissions on these fields to “Owner Read/Owner Write”.
If you use more than one Relate field to create an association between two modules, using these fields to filter reports returns incorrect results.
Adding a One-To-Many relationship in Meetings breaks the 'flex-relate' and results in incorrect data.
After upgrading from 4.5.1, when you attempt to create a custom field in Studio, the system displays the “Failed to Retrieve Data” error message.
